What does “NATE Certified” mean?


North American Technician Excellence (NATE) is the country’s largest non-profit certification organization for heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigerant technicians. This program is governed, owned, developed, operated, and supported by the entire HVAC/R industry. NATE exams offer topics that are highly pertinent to contractors, manufacturers, educators, utilities and more.




How can I reduce the number of airborne allergens present in my home?


One of the most effective methods in reducing airborne allergens in your home is by replacing your home’s duct system. Over lengthy periods of time, a duct system can develop leaks that may break the seal separating your air conditioning from the elements. This allows all sorts of contaminants to enter your air conditioning unit. If your duct system hasn’t been serviced or replaced in a long time, you could have mold, dust mites, or dirt in the inner walls of your system. How often do I need to change my filter?


Filters should be regularly changed when there is a build-up of dust, dirt, debris, etc. Filters that are ready to be changed are generally discolored and covered in debris or dirt. Even if you don’t notice these signs, it’s a good idea to replace your filter every 30 days for the disposable filters, and every 2 or 3 months for the thicker, pleated filters. A dirty filter is able to create blockage, preventing the air from circulating through your home. This may even cause your whole system to malfunction and shut down. When in doubt….take that filter out!




How can I increase the efficiency of my air conditioning unit and decrease my utility bill?


An air conditioning unit requires consistent maintenance in order for it to run at its maximum level of efficiency. The heating and cooling components of the unit should be checked so you can catch small problems before they become larger ones, and the refrigerant coils should be regularly cleaned so the transfer of heat is not stopped by dirt or debris. If you put in the extra care and effort towards maintaining your HVAC system, it will lead to less stress and greater comfort!
